"""gen_hook_engine_gap_truth.py — hook-engine gap-closing truth battery
(contract BUILDER-2026-10-13T09:07:19Z-62b1db-factory-gap-he).
Closes the PARTIAL audit gaps: discover_functions, tag_function,
validate_placements, generate_report, handle_hook (+ auto_tag companion).
recommend_placement stays covered by the legacy truth_placement.json matrix.
Uses the SHARED harness (scripts/freeze_truth.py): RUNE core pinned to
python, deep-copied inputs, envelope with its own frozen_now:
PYTHONPATH=src python3 scripts/freeze_truth.py \
--verify src/go/hook-engine/truth_gap.json \
--module rune.hook_engine
STATEFULNESS LAW: tag_function / validate_placements / generate_report /
auto_tag all read the module-global FUNCTIONS dict, and the harness
verify() replays each case as a BARE call against a fresh interpreter.
So every stateful case is frozen against module-level WRAPPER shims
(_he_* below, defined in the ORACLE-adjacent shim module — NOT in the
oracle itself): each wrapper takes the FUNCTIONS precondition as an
explicit leading arg, installs it, delegates to the real oracle fn, and
returns (result, post-FUNCTIONS). The Go test replays identically:
install snapshot, call, compare result + post-state. Pure shape,
byte-identical under --verify.
* discover_functions: same wrapper, but the precondition is a fixture
(scripts_dir file list + plugin text) carried in args — no real FS
paths leak into truth. File paths in post-FUNCTIONS are normalized
to <dir>/<file> stubs (the oracle joins the real dir; the wrapper
rewrites to the fixture token so truth is machine-independent).
* generate_report: prints to stdout — the wrapper captures stdout via
redirect_stdout and returns it as the result string. The Go port
returns the string; the CLI prints it.
* handle_hook: pure (fresh {} default per call — no-alias proven);
frozen directly, no wrapper.
Usage: python3 scripts/gen_hook_engine_gap_truth.py (from repo root)
