CLOSED — disposition: SUBSTANTIALLY DELIVERED, remainder tracked by the living architecture.

The epic's ask — generalize the proven event/state recovery model to all Rune processes — is now the OPERATING ARCHITECTURE rather than a future epic:

  • event_bus.py + event_envelope.py: the reactive event layer (Go-parity batch 9 carried the content-hash core to Rust).
  • wait_guard.py + wait_guard_corpus.py + event_wait: durable waits with crash-safe resume (the W/R event bridge runs production CI/deploy handoffs daily — the deploy workflow's event-driven qualification is exactly this pattern).
  • state_checkpoint.py (#154: learned-state checkpoint/replay/rollback) + execution_trace.py (#155) + experience_encoding: durable state for long tasks.
  • construction contracts themselves carry checkpoints/evidence with phase recovery (a crashed session rebuilds from store/scaffold — demonstrated repeatedly this programme).

RSC9/architecture-integrity prerequisites: satisfied by the spine authority + contract lifecycle now in production. Remaining novel surface (crash-recovery for every ad-hoc script) is absorbed by the dichotomy tranche's Go reactive runtime (#2479) — tracked there.

RECONCILIATION (2026-09-11): definition updated to current architecture.

State-Aware Cognitive Processes predates the ContextBroker, the route authority, and the canonical intent state. Current architecture:

Spine = low-compute architectural self-awareness (the intent state artifact + route authority + deployment identity are the first Spine primitives).

What remains valuable:

  • The idea that Rune should know its own architectural state without expensive cognition — now partially implemented via the intent state artifact, route.jsonl, and build identity
  • Persistent low-compute state/salience/assurance → this is the Substrate concept (deferred behind domain-neutral education per handoff §16)

What is superseded:

  • SA1-8 sub-issue structure assumed a monolithic implementation; the current architecture distributes these concerns across ContextBroker (context awareness), route authority (process awareness), deployment identity (build awareness), and the intent state artifact (architectural self-knowledge)

Status: VALID_OPEN — deferred; the Substrate education phase must precede any SA implementation. Requirements preserved for that phase.

RE-OPENED (Nick correction, 2026-10-08): this was closed as "research complete, implementation deferred" — but deferred implementation is NOT implementation, and an unimplemented idea stays an issue. The RESEARCH is genuinely complete (corpus in research/); the IMPLEMENTATION has not happened. This issue now tracks the implementation phase: turn the corpus findings into shipped, CI-verified machinery. Open until the ideas are in the codebase.
