Plain summary

Audits the live graph-memory supersession/normalization behaviour against CURRENT state — not the stale statistic from an old system dossier that included a different database.

Example

A fresh graph-health report shows whether the huge superseded-edge ratio is still real, and why.

Technical details

Parent epic: #16

Manifest ID: P2-08

Priority: P2
Reason: previous system dossier showed a large ratio of superseded graph edges and very few active entities/edges.

The archive does not contain the live DB, so verify against current state rather than assuming the old statistic still holds.

Acceptance criteria:

  • graph health report;
  • root cause of unexpected supersession if present;
  • no graph-dependent spreading until graph integrity is proven.

Dependencies: P2-04.

Resolved dependency references

  • Depends on: #38 (P2-04)
  • Blocks: None.

Relevant source files

Not specified in the handoff. P0-01 must identify authoritative paths before implementation; do not guess by adding another path.

Do not do

  • Do not begin this issue before its dependencies are complete.
  • Do not create a parallel authority path; replace, extend, or remain dormant.
  • Do not add unrelated cognitive subsystems or additive feature growth.
  • Do not treat module/schema existence, background activity, or model self-report as acceptance evidence.

Source directive

Preserved from /home/nick/Desktop/rune_v1_course_correction_handoff.md, Section 14. The handoff is authoritative if this issue summary is ambiguous.

Pipeline requirements

  • TDD: frozen/regression tests written first, red → green
  • ruff check and ruff format --check clean
  • Spec-compliance review gate: PASS
  • Code-quality review gate: Approved
  • Full orchestration suite regression green
  • Canary passes (where applicable)
  • Closed with a properly formatted closing comment + commit/PR references

Handoff addendum (RUNE_VIBE_CODE_INTEGRITY_HANDOFF §5.7) — supersession scope confirmation

This issue is the authoritative owner for temporal truth (audit confirmed: no other issue owns it across memory classes). Required capabilities: recorded-at time; validity-currentness; supersession; supporting AND contradicting provenance; historical truth preserved when current state changes.

Example invariant: "Nick preferred X in 2025" must not become false because "Nick prefers Y now." If scope exceeds graph-memory, note the extension boundary in the design rather than spawning a new module.

Second addendum (EXTERNAL_PROJECT_LESSONS_HANDOFF — Amendment #42) — current-applicability concept

Prior addendum stands (this issue owns temporal truth — ownership audit already confirmed). Net-new concept:

  • Add recorded-at / valid-from / valid-until / supersedes / superseded-by / supporting evidence / contradicting evidence as first-class graph fields.
  • Add current applicability as distinct from historical truth AND from confidence: a memory can be historically true, strongly evidenced, and NO LONGER SAFE to rely on without re-verification (example: "advertising budget is £100/month" stays true-but-stale after six months). Especially critical before finance/advertising autonomy (Phase F).

CLOSED PROGRAMMATICALLY — commit 91a91e8 (contract BUILDER-2026-10-08T10:58:57Z-019b73). scripts/graph_health_report.py is the live instrument (ratios, orphans, dangling, normalization — any store path); supersession machine pinned (history preserved, new edge wins). 4/4 green.
